Fairview moves ahead on rebuild of substation
Fairview’s new power substation project got a boost after a unanimous vote from city officials approved the purchase of two very important pieces of equipment. The council voted to purchase a pair of reclosers, which are sensors that sense faults in the electrical current and restore power after a momentary outage. Currently, the city is only operating with one. The reclosers, which Mayor Jeff Cox estimates to cost nearly $19,000 apiece, or $40,000 for the pair, are expected to increase in price by about 3 percent at the beginning of the new year.
