Stronger than expected sales tax figures fueled a positive report given to the Richfield City Council. Richfield’s share of the state allocation of the general sales tax in the first half of the current fiscal year has grown 10.75 percent from the previous time frame last year. Richfield’s fiscal year runs from July to June. November was the biggest month of increase when compared year over year. November’s numbers grew from $127,000 in 2012 to $138,000 in 2013.
In addition, Richfield’s highways tax has grown some 19.2 percent over the same period last year, and its recreation tax has grown 20.7 percent in the first month of 2014, Also, Richfield’s building department has issued commercial permits for approximately $3.4 million worth of construction.
