Manti looks at setting up enterprise zone to spur job creation
Businesses in Manti may get tax breaks for creating jobs under a state program suggested to the council by Kevin Christensen, director of Sanpete County Economic Development. Christensen met with the council to discuss applying for enterprise zone status for the city’s commercial district. He explained that an enterprise zone allowed businesses to apply for a state income tax credit. Businesses could get a $750 credit for each new full time position created. They would qualify for another $500 for each position with pay exceeding 125 percent of the county’s monthly average wage. Sanpete Messenger
