Gunnison approves Fieldstone Academy zone change
Fieldstone Academy took a big step toward moving its operations to the former Gunnison Valley Elementary School when the City Council granted a zoning change. The change gives Fieldstone the go-ahead to develop the facility into a private school, which could accommodate up to 100 students; but not as a residential facility for disabled or troubled youth. Officials expect the school will grow to accommodate 80 students, all boys, within the next five years, which would equate to about 20 full-time positions and 20-40 part-time positions. But when Fieldstone opens, as it hopes to next fall, it will initially accommodate just 15-20 students. Sanpete Messenger
