$1.1 million in funding to help Sanpete recover from fire

Sanpete County will get a jump start restoring the burnt range in the north end of the county with $1.1 million in funding from the National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), other government agencies and possibly some local funds.

The NRCS will provide an $850,000 grant that must be matched by a 25 percent grant from the county  or the Utah Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The money will pay for the stabilization and reseeding of the 75 square-mile “burn scar” left by the Wood Hollow Fire in June and July. SanpeteMessenger
