Sevier County rock crushing proposal given the go-ahead

After hearing appeals concerning a proposal to operate a mining/rock crushing facility near Sevier, the Sevier County Commission upheld the permit previously issued for Millennium Construction Materials, Inc. and Green Solutions. The two companies have proposed to mine a material, pozzolan, which is described as a natural product with properties that can improve the life cycle of concrete, while helping to reduce greenhouse gasses, according to developers.

Company officials are optimistic about starting operation by sometime in September. The companies are going through a process with the Forest Service to gain permission for the operation. If the proposal becomes a reality, it could result in up to 50 jobs being created in Sevier County. Richfield Reaper
