Sevier County building on the rise

With one of the largest years for commercial construction on record, Sevier County’s building department remained busy throughout 2014. Several large commercial projects fueled a year that included some $17.9 million in total valuation. Sevier County also contracts with Sevier School District for building inspections, which includes the new $33 million Richfield High School that started construction last year.

In all, 12 new commercial construction permits were issued in 2014 in Sevier County. The county also had 27 commercial addition/remodels with a value of $4.4 million, and two commercial outbuildings with a value of $438,000.

The county also saw 30 new residential homes built in 2014, with a total value of $6.65 million. Of those permits, 10 were in unincorporated areas in Sevier County. Eight of the permits for new residential homes were located in Monroe, while Salina, Annabella and Central Valley all had three permits issued in 2014. Richfield Reaper
